Therapy: What to Expect
How things work, depends on how we are meeting. I deliver therapy from a few different locations, so if we are meeting in person then I will email to check which location is easiest for you. If we are working remotely (e.g. over the phone / internet), then I will email to check what works best for you and discuss availability. Please make sure you check your junk box regularly.

The session needs to be paid for beforehand (ideally 48 hours, especially if working in person). The first session will involve talking about what has brought you to therapy, and what you would like to achieve from it. Don’t worry – many people don’t know what they want, they just know they want to feel better than they do. Let’s start there!

I sometimes compare therapy to a puzzle. It can take time to identify the puzzle pieces before making sense of the picture, and how things fit. For that reason, I usually recommend at least 6-8 sessions, however we can discuss if you are looking for something more short / long term. I will check in with you regularly to make sure you are happy with the direction we are working in and can adapt whenever needed so that you get the most from your experience.

About Me
Hi, my name is Kath and I am a qualified therapist from North Wales.
I believe that no two clients are the same, and that people come to therapy for lots of different reasons. I adapt my approach to therapy in line with what works best for you, and what you are looking to achieve.
I offer confidential and non-judgmental therapeutic counselling sessions either face to face (Anglesey/Bangor), online or by phone call.
Maybe you know what is troubling you, or maybe something just feels ‘off’ and you need a safe and confidential place to make sense of what is happening.
Sessions are generally weekly and last for 50 minutes; however, we can chat first about what works best for you.

Sessions are open to anyone worldwide (I work to UK law) English speaking and aged over 18 who feel they have something they need to process, work through, or maybe who just needs to be heard.
Some of my qualifications include:
- An MSc in Counselling from the University of Wales, Bangor
- I am a trained Mediation Practitioner (having worked predominantly with families in conflict)
- I have a PGC in Community Development (having worked predominantly with people affected by homelessness)
Both as a counsellor, and in other similar roles, I have worked for many years with people experiencing depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, burnout, trauma, relationship breakdown, lack of motivation, homelessness, and general anxiety. These are just some of the reasons someone might come to therapy.
In addition to running my own private practice, I am also a sessional counsellor for organisations including the NHS.

Specialisations and Expertises:
I believe that most clients tend to come with one issue, but in reality there is something much deeper going on for them. No matter what you bring, I can adapt the way I work to best suit your needs. For example, some people want to process past events, while others want support to be able to leave the house. Often, I find many people have experienced some kind of trauma (that doesn't always mean a specific event, it may have been a traumatic period in their lives which has affected them). Other's arent sure why they are feeling as they do, but they know they need help to feel different. For this reason, I don't specialise in one area, because clients often have so many complex different reasons for coming to therapy.
